LA GRANDE BELLEZZA

> A wise man once said: “Bellezza perisce nella vita, ma immortale nell arte”. Years and love stories have been lost since then. Another man walked in his footsteps and photographed a movie that spoke about our daily dosage of beauty, about dream-sequences and inflatable desires and everything lost in-between. Some would call that forfeiture; others would see it as a noble aspiration to reach beyond our selfishness; a rather small minority would define it as a mating ritual.
In a “post-truth” world, we’ve grown overconfident in our ability to evaluate and pass judgment – simply because we’ve been told we can. Indeed, we now “know” we are all mighty equal in our ability to call right from wrong, beauty from ugliness, and truth from falsehood. We are, in our quests for relativity and splendor, the avatars we’ve always chased in our stupor: fanciful in our condemnations, tender-hearted when facing a mirror. Some say that beauty is only skin deep. I’m trying to tell you that it’s, in fact, a reflection – one that I’ve fissured in this image.

My peers simply call it happenstance. Therefore I stare. Therefore I raze? I masquerade, I track down- therefore I (meta) sin?! Am I, perchance, the Original Male Gaze? I’m looking at your eyes. I only see your skin. You brand me toxic while you riff & live-stream my symmetric narcissistic praise.
