NFT’S | CREATIVE CONCEPT DESIGN | PROJECT

I eye, therefore I am. From time to time, I point-and-click, therefore I shoot your fetish-hologram – that (always) does it! It’s my ante-feminism trick that triggers your pedantic iris diaphragm.

My photo-finish lifelines start with that “another you”. You stop where they commence. I intertwine your piercing shards of greyish blue with B&W reactionary bloodlines that may seem a sociological offense. I chalk that up to a repetitive, yet differentiated casting choice. My peers simply call it happenstance.

Therefore I stare. Therefore I raze? I masquerade, I track down- therefore I (meta) sin?! Am I, perchance, the Original Male Gaze? I’m looking at your eyes. I only see your skin. You brand me toxic while you riff & live-stream my symmetric narcissistic praise.

“Qu’est-ce que le cinéma?”

This is my answer, stripped down to only one frame, leaving the following 23 for Jean-Luc Godard as visual props in his spectacular quest for truth; alas, André Bazin was unavailable for comment.

The Wishing Well

“Alone she sat outside, when the old man came,

the Terrible One of the Æsir and he looked in her eyes:

‘Why do you question me? Why do you test me?

I know everything, Odin, where you hid your eye

in the famous well of Mimir’. “

Et in Arcadia Ego (3rd millennium)

This is a work with internalized Freudian undertones, in which the chiaroscuro pitted Eros against Thanatos almost independent from the will of my shutter-click. I wanted to compress a sense of erotic nostalgia under the guise of a ritualistic detail, in order to imbue the viewer with an obsession for an immortality that can only be quenched by embracing immediate sexual impulses. In short, it could be a Romantic innuendo…

{GracefulLily} and the CyberElders

Updating the narrative of the Book of Daniel (13th Ch.), this work glosses a morality tale into our digital era. The re-contextualization was inspired by Picasso’s “Susanna and the Elders” (1955), in which he not only placed the Modesty symbol of the Septuagint into a domestic setting instead of a garden, but also reinforced a voyeuristic stance that would grow within the 3rd millennium into an almost socially accepted fact of life.

Original Male Gaze #7

{GracefulLily}’s Wedding Morning

Inspired by the deuterocanonical addition (Ch.13) of the Book of Daniel and the work of Juan Manuel Blanes (“La Casta Susana”, c1862), I wanted to decontextualize an imaginary stance in which Susanna (meaning “graceful lily” in Hebrew), a Classical symbol of virtue and piety, is depicted completely alone, on day of her wedding, years before the moment that fascinated artists such as Lorenzo Lotto, Van Dyck, Artemisia Gentileschi or Picasso.

Pygmalion Redux (detail)

“But last on a day in summer

(An evil day it seems)

I thought, “I will fashion a woman

As I have seen in dreams.

I, who never loved woman

That breathed and spoke and moved,

Will fashion a noble statue

To show what I could have loved;

A glorious naked figure

Untouched by time or fate,

A symbol of all that might be

And she shall be my mate.”
