FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY AWARDS 2020

INTERNATIONAL FINE ART ANNUAL PHOTOGRAPHY AWARDS 2019-2020

London, UK

Fine Art Photography Awards (FAPA) announce the winners of the 6th edition.

ALEXANDRU CRISAN was Award Nominated: in Conceptual category with “Bleeding Light”, in Fine Art category with “Petrified (vampire bride)” and “Blind Light”, in Nudes category with “Hide” and “Breathe Slowly”, in Photomanipulation category with “City of depraved Souls” and “Deconstruction of an Unknown Balcony (C)”, in Portrait category with “No Dream is Ever Just a Dream”, in the 6th Fine Art Photography Awards 2020 competition.

Alexandru Crisan: NO DREAM IS EVER JUST A DREAM (Single) > “I do believe in dreams and I also believe in our days we lack the ability of dreaming. The proposed image narrates a different stance in a world of fairy tales, a world of haunted dreams, and mostly in a world of loud voices. The images from this series are oriented towards a deep understanding of human anxieties, beyond hopes or desires. Somewhere, beyond the envisioned world of dreams, the tormented, ugly or deformed character hides a fantastic world of inner beauty revealed through an extremely sensitive approach. The personal vision on interpreting distinguishable human emotions, defines the thin boundaries of revealing the hidden human soul.”

Alexandru Crisan: CITY OF DEPRAVED SOULS (Single) > “A vision based on iTALO cALVINO book, “Invisible Cities”. The proposed series of images follows a thin line of understanding and interpreting the cities described in Clavino’s book.” “The book explores imagination and the imaginable through the descriptions of cities by an explorer, Marco Polo. The book is framed as a conversation between the aging and busy emperor Kublai Khan, who constantly has merchants coming to describe the state of his expanding and vast empire, and Polo. The majority of the book consists of brief prose poems describing 55 fictitious cities that are narrated by Polo, many of which can be read as parables or meditations on culture, language, time, memory, death, or the general nature of human experience.”

Alexandru Crisan: DECONSTRUCTION OF AN UNKNOWN BALCONY (Single) > “The sequence that I’m presenting in this entry puts under a hyper-realist intimate scrutiny a special architectural image. The multiplication by multiple exposure accentuates the inherent dual nature of the subject and creates a new potential space of self-integration, thus giving birth to new impossible architectural disclosures. The image is, in fact, a newborn architectural space that enriches the world of the imaginary, highlighting the infinite possibilities to dream on. The world of dreams, the most intimate of spaces, becomes a never-ending speculation – perhaps a little Freudian, but nonetheless nourishing. It is not a haze, but a daydream, within which different scenarios may be played-out by the viewer’s imagination.”

Alexandru Crisan: BLIND LIGHT (Single) > “Sometimes marked by confusion and uncertainty, the reaction of the human body under the incidence of excessive light leads to new interpretive stances. The images show an intermediate state, somewhere beyond the world of dreams where the light tries to disintegrate the main character, revealing the most intimate parts of his soul.”
Alexandru Crisan: PETRIFIED (vampire bride) (Single) > “I do believe in dreams and I also believe in our days we lack the ability of dreaming. The proposed image narrates a different stance in a world of fairy tales, a world of haunted dreams, and mostly in a world of loud voices. Following the line proposed by Stoker’s novel, the mysterious female vampire presence, beautiful and deadly, represent in fact a degenerated criminal typology, ready to do whatever is necessary to survive. “Petrified” is one of the stances when a vampire woman pretends to be dead or in pain in order to attract a living creature to feed herself.”

Alexandru Crisan: BLEEDING LIGHT (Single) > “The proposed image narrates a different stance in a world of haunted dreams, and mostly in a world of loud voices. The images from this series are oriented towards a deep understanding of human anxieties, beyond hopes or desires. Sometimes marked by confusion and uncertainty, the reaction of the human body under the incidence of excessive light leads to new interpretive stances. The images show an intermediate state, somewhere beyond the world of dreams where the light tries to disintegrate the main character, revealing the most intimate parts of his soul.”

Alexandru Crisan: BREATHE SLOWLY (Single) > “Breathe slowly, part of “Lust” project, is oriented towards psychoanalysis, following a deep line in understanding human anxieties, hopes or desires. Somewhere beyond the formal representation, the characters hides a fantastic world of inner beauty, revealed by the author, through an extremely sensitive approach.”

Alexandru Crisan: HIDE (Single) > “The proposed image narrates a different stance, in a world of haunted dreams, and mostly in a world of loud voices. The images from this series are oriented towards Psychoanalysis, following a deep line in understanding of human anxieties, beyond hopes or desires… Somewhere, beyond the envisioned world of dreams, the tormented, ugly or deformed character hides a fantastic world of inner beauty revealed through an extremely sensitive approach. The personal vision on interpreting easily distinguishable human emotions, defines the thin boundaries of revealing the hidden human soul. (Handmade drawing on medium format negatives)”
